What type of guarantee comes with the product?
Is every appliance brand new?
Most products are brand new since we really do not like to sell used products. Our selection includes New In Box (NIB) which are products that are still in original packaging, Overstock products, Scratch and Dent products which may have surface cosmetic damage, Customer Return products which came from a big box store and were used by a customer for up to 48 hours, and Refurbished products which may have had manufacturer's defects corrected by replacing physically damaged components.
Do appliances come with the manufacturer's original warranty?
Yes, most new appliances are new in box, overstock, or open box items that could have cosmetic blemishes, but new and come with the original factory warranty. Most have one-year factory warranty, but some have longer warranty periods such as 2-year, 3-year, 5-year, or 7-year, depending on the manufacturer and specific model.
Do you offer delivery and installation services?
Yes. We offer local delivery services. Fees depend on the type of merchandise and distance of delivery, plus installation rates. Please call the office for rate quotes.
Do I need a membership to shop here?
We are open to the public. No special membership is required to purchase from us.
Do prices include sales tax?
No, local sales tax rates will be charged in addition to the sales price. We are legally REQUIRED to collect this sales tax unless you have a valid Sales and Use Tax Permit on file with us that (1) shows your state seal and (2) states that you are purchasing our merchandise with the intent to resell it.
Do you offer refunds?
No, we do not offer refunds. Exchanges and store credits only during the first 30 days. You are responsible for inspecting your unit before purchase. Each unit is fully tested before going onto the sales floor.
Is layaway or financing available?
We currently do not offer layaway. We offer financing options from 3rd party companies: SNAP and ACIMA.
What forms of payment are accepted?
We accept cash or credit/debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, & Discover). We do accept checks under certain conditions. The check address must match the ID address and delivery address.
For all other questions, please feel free to call the outlet nearest to you and a local representative would be glad to help.
When you visit H&S Appliance Outlet, you might notice that while we have some brand new appliances, most appliances we sell are scratch and dent. Our scratch and dent appliances originated from big box stores which can't sell lightly-damaged inventory, from appliance dealers who may have mis-ordered the wrong appliance, or lightly blemished appliances straight from the factory. Here’s everything you need to know about scratch and dent appliances and how to find deals on your favorite brands.
Scratch and dent appliances were lightly damaged during the transit process. For example, a forklift might bump into a refrigerator creating a dent in its exterior. An employee might accidentally scratch the front of a washing machine while cutting away its plastic wrapping. When there are cosmetic damages to an appliance, the store cannot sell it at full price. A customer who is expecting a perfect unit might be shocked to see a dent or scratch in the exterior, even the back, and reject delivery due to the light imperfections.
Our team of experienced technicians checks each and every appliance as soon as they come off the truck, and before they hit the sales floor. Each appliance is checked for functionality...they work like they are supposed to work.
Scratch and dent units are only cosmetically damaged and may have a visible surface blemish on the front, sides, or back. For example, if you buy a scratched refrigerator with a side scratch or dent, it will still keep your groceries cool and should operate as designed, unless otherwise noted.
In some cases, you might not notice the damage unless you really look at the appliance. The issue might be so minor that it looks like you are getting a perfect appliance while saving money by buying a scratch and dent unit.
Most scratch and dent appliances in other stores are discounted by around 15% of the original purchase price, also known as the Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). What about appliances at H&S Appliance Outlet? How about 30%, 40%, perhaps even 60% off MSRP! Feel free to do an online search and check the average cost of the appliance before you buy it. This ensures you are actually getting a good deal on a cosmetically damaged product instead of paying full price.
Depending on the extent of the damage, the average discount at H&S Appliance Outlet might be more or less than 30%. The damage might be so minor that it’s nearly unnoticeable and the scratch and dent discount is added for transparency. In other cases, the damage might be severe ("that's going to leave a mark") enough to need a steeper discount.
Many people believe that buying scratch and dent appliances is worth it in order to save money. The damage is usually minor and easy to overlook. There are also ways to hide any issues so you don’t notice any cosmetic problems with your appliances.
For example, scratch and dent refrigerators are popular because you can cover any issues with magnets, event invitations, and drawings from your children. A scratch and dent washer and dryer is no big deal because most guests never look at your laundry room. You can even cover a scratch and dent dishwasher if you feel like you can’t ignore the damage.
Almost any appliance can be considered scratch and dent if it has cosmetic damage. You can find refrigerators, washers, ranges, dishwashers, dryers, and other items that have minor cosmetic problems. Seasonally, we may also have outdoor equipment, mowers, and grills which are scratch and dent.
Scratches and dents are viewed as cosmetic problems that do not affect the performance of the appliance. As a result, they are not covered by your warranty. Whether you buy a scratch and dent appliance from the store or damage it yourself when you get home, you cannot use your warranty to repair the cosmetic issues.
When you buy an appliance at H&S Appliance Outlet one of our team members can walk you through what your warranty covers and how to use it if needed.
Dents do not need to be fixed in order for an appliance to work. Think about a dent in your car. If someone in the parking lot opens their door and it dings your car, the dent doesn’t affect the performance. The same can be said for your appliance. A refrigerator can keep running even if there is a dent in the side or in the door.
If the dent is located in a sensitive place, the staff members at H&S Appliance Outlet will confirm the issue is only cosmetic before moving it to the sales floor. Our team will never sell an appliance that doesn’t work perfectly.
In some cases, you might be able to remove the dent from the appliance or buff out the scratches to make them less noticeable. However, these cosmetic issues do not affect the appliances. Furthermore, if you aren’t sure what you are doing when trying to make the repairs, you could actually make the dents worse or more noticeable.
Most people won’t even notice the dents or scratches in your new appliance. They will be too excited about the features and performance to care about any cosmetic issues. Try to either ignore the damage or cover it up instead. If you don’t think you can do that, shopping for scratch and dent appliances might not be right for you.
